University of Georgia Sports Information and the Athletic Department of the University of Georgia have reported that star Bulldog outfielder Ben Anderson was named to the All-District Academic first team, a recent GeorgiaDogs.com release said.

The All-Academic team honors the country's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.

"As First-team Academic All-District honorees, Anderson will now appear on the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot," the release said.

The team is picked by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), and as a first-team honoree Anderson will now appear on the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot; where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be chosen in June.

A co-captain of the Bulldogs, Anderson is hitting .282 and has seven home runs, four doubles, four triples and 27 RBIs in 46 games this season, the release said. He also produced a 31-game on-base streak and led off games with home runs on three occasions, including the season opener. Anderson has helped his team to a 32-16 record so far this year.

Originally from LaGrange, the graduate student is working toward a master's degree in comparative biomedical sciences.
