ATLANTA (May 2, 2024) — The Senate Special Committee on Investigations, led by Sen. Bill Cowsert, is set to convene its third hearing on Friday, May 3, 2024, at 10 a.m. The committee aims to address crucial matters surrounding allegations of misconduct and restore public confidence in the criminal justice system.

The upcoming meeting will feature sworn testimonies from witnesses Robb Pitts and Sharon Whitmore, along with the submission of documents as per the subpoena. As stated, the committee's primary objective is to delve into the accusations against Fulton County's district attorney, Fani Willis, regarding potential conflicts of interest and the potential misuse of public funds. The committee seeks to introduce new legislation, amend existing laws, or adjust state appropriations to rebuild trust in the criminal justice system.

In a bid to enhance transparency, the committee has announced that the event will be open to the public and live-streamed on the Senate website. Additionally, there will be a press gaggle following the committee's adjournment, with media personnel urged to confirm their attendance in advance through Jackson Fuentes at the Senate Press Office.

Sen. Bill Cowsert, representing the 46th Senate District, including Oconee County and portions of Barrow, Clarke, Gwinnett, and Walton Counties, can be contacted at 404.463.1366 or bill.cowsert@senate.ga.gov.
