The American Automobile Association (AAA) announced that Georgia drivers are paying an average of $2.66 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline, down nearly 13% from last year’s national average and 46% from the 2022 high.
According to a January report by AAA, Georgia’s gas prices stand at $2.659 per gallon, marking a reduction of $0.409 or nearly 13% from the previous year’s national average of $3.068. The price is also down by $2.27 or 46% from the highest national average recorded in 2022, which was $4.929.
The Kobeissi Letter highlighted on social media that gas prices are at their lowest since 2021, with AAA reporting the current national average at $2.81 per gallon. This is a decrease of $0.25 or 8% from last year’s average and down by $2.12 or 43% from its peak in 2022 under President Biden’s administration. U.S. households are projected to save approximately $11 billion on gasoline in 2026 compared to 2025.
The Washington Examiner reported that during Biden’s presidency, gas prices reached the highest average on record for any U.S. president, peaking at a national average of $4.929 per gallon in June 2022. A report by The Heartland Institute found that after three years under Biden’s energy policies, gasoline prices increased by $0.97 per gallon, equating to a rise of 42%, with the average driver spending an additional $548 annually on fuel.
