Archbold Grady Hospital in Cairo, part of the Archbold system, has made a significant contribution to the local and state economy, according to new data from the Georgia Hospital Association (GHA). The recently released figures, based on 2023 data analyzed by an independent third party, show that Archbold Grady contributed over $67 million to the economy of Grady County. Across its four hospitals, the Archbold system generated nearly $1.2 billion for Georgia’s statewide economy.

The GHA report highlights that Archbold’s economic influence extends beyond healthcare services by supporting employment across multiple sectors. In total, Archbold supports 5,292 jobs throughout Georgia. Within Grady County alone, Archbold Grady is responsible for 263 jobs—161 of which are at the hospital itself. These positions contribute almost $30 million in household earnings statewide.

Darcy Craven, President and CEO of Archbold Hospitals, stated: “While our primary mission will always be to provide access to high-quality, compassionate, and cutting-edge care, we are proud of Archbold’s significant positive impact on the economy of South Georgia.”

Archbold Hospitals have served as a regional healthcare provider for more than a century. The system offers a range of medical services from advanced cancer treatments to routine primary care.

Crystal Wells, Administrator at Archbold Grady Hospital, said: “Archbold Grady is committed to providing high-quality, patient-focused healthcare to the people of Cairo and the surrounding area. We are proud to have served such a wonderful community for nearly 80 years.”

The economic analysis was conducted using IMPLAN modeling with data sourced from both the Georgia Department of Community Health Annual Hospital Questionnaire and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Cost Report. GHA represents more than 150 hospitals across Georgia and advocates on their behalf.
