Archbold Grady has launched a new Withdrawal Management Service, offering voluntary inpatient care for adults who want to medically withdraw from long-term substance or alcohol use. The program is designed to help individuals manage withdrawal from alcohol, opiates, and benzodiazepines.
“Our goal is to provide a safe and comfortable environment by providing 24-hour medical care, medications to minimize withdrawal symptoms, and private rooms for patients,” said Program Director David Griner. “Our motto is simple: help is a phone call away.”
Substance abuse can affect both personal and professional aspects of life. Medically managed withdrawal helps individuals safely remove harmful substances from their bodies under supervision.
“When you’ve used drugs or alcohol habitually for a long time, your body can begin to rely on it to feel normal,” explained Community Education Director Wendy Beatty. “When the drug isn’t taken, withdrawal symptoms will start to appear that vary in severity based on the drugs used, physical health, age and method of withdrawal.”
The typical stay in the program lasts three to five days. Patients receive constant medical attention and support during this period. If complications arise during withdrawal, immediate treatment is available.
“Medically managed withdrawal is just the first step to the path of recovery,” said Archbold Grady Administrator Crystal Wells. “Our team helps patients develop a plan to continue their recovery journey after discharge.”
Referrals are preferred through primary care providers but self-referral is also possible. The admissions team can be reached at any time by calling 229-516-3494. Consent from all patients entering the program is required.
The service accepts adults aged 18 and older, including pregnant and post-partum women. Coverage includes Medicare, Medicaid, Managed Medicare Plans, Managed Medicaid Plans, and most commercial insurance plans.
Archbold Hospitals operates as a not-for-profit health system with its main campus in Thomasville, Georgia and other facilities serving South Georgia and North Florida communities through various programs such as emergency care, cardiac services, cancer treatment, surgical procedures, women’s health initiatives, rehabilitation services and wellness education efforts (https://www.archbold.org/).
