Archbold and the Georgia Hospital Association (GHA) are joining communities nationwide to mark National Rural Health Day on November 20, 2025. The event, organized annually by the National Organization of State Offices of Rural Health since 2011, aims to highlight both the resilience and the unique challenges faced by rural hospitals and healthcare professionals as they serve approximately 61 million Americans living in rural areas.
GHA President and CEO Caylee Noggle said, “Rural communities are the heart of Georgia, and ensuring their access to high-quality healthcare is vital to the health of our entire state. National Rural Health Day is a great opportunity to thank and support our rural hospitals and healthcare professionals who work tirelessly to provide care to their communities.”
Rural hospitals in Georgia not only deliver essential medical services but also play a significant role in local economies. According to GHA’s latest economic data from 2023, these hospitals generate $8.6 billion in economic impact across the state and support more than 42,000 jobs, with nearly half being direct hospital positions. This analysis was conducted using IMPLAN modeling by an independent third party.
Darcy Craven, President & CEO of Archbold, stated, “At Archbold facilities in Thomas, Mitchell, Grady, Brooks and Decatur Counties, we are proud to support rural communities with accessible healthcare and meaningful work. High quality healthcare and economic opportunity are the lifeblood of any community, and we’re committed to strengthening the communities we call home.”
Residents and businesses can participate in National Rural Health Day by supporting local healthcare initiatives. The Georgia HEART Hospital Program offers an option for Georgians to redirect part of their state income tax payments toward rural hospitals. This initiative helps maintain access to care throughout rural regions.
This year, Archbold Brooks, Archbold Memorial, and Archbold Mitchell are eligible for this tax credit program. Donations directed toward these hospitals will be used for capital equipment purchases, facility upgrades, and enhancements in patient care. Contributions remain within the community they are made for. More information is available at georgiaheart.org or through the Archbold Foundation.
