The Coffee County Sheriff’s Office announced on May 15 the arrest of Tyrone Barry Carter Jr., a 26-year-old resident of Douglas, Georgia, following an investigation into allegations of sexual offenses against multiple victims. The alleged assaults occurred nine years ago and involved unwanted sexual contact and inappropriate advances during the victims’ childhood.

Authorities responded to a report at a residence in Douglas on February 10, 2026. During the investigation, several individuals came forward with allegations against Carter. Investigators determined that Carter is currently serving in the United States Army and stationed at Fort Stewart, Georgia.

Detectives established probable cause to pursue criminal charges related to the alleged offenses. An arrest warrant was issued, and detectives coordinated with Fort Stewart personnel to detain Carter on base before transporting him to the Coffee County Jail.

Carter has been charged with Aggravated Child Molestation under O.C.G.A. 16-6-4(a). The Sheriff’s Office stated that the investigation remains active and ongoing.

The agency also requested public assistance: “Anyone with information regarding this case, or anyone who believes they may have been a victim of Tyrone Barry Carter Jr., is encouraged to contact the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office at 912-384-4227.” The Sheriff’s Office said it remains committed to pursuing justice for victims and protecting community safety.
