Athens-Clarke County announces absentee ballot processing schedule for June 16 runoff

The Athens-Clarke County Elections Department announced on June 3 the schedule for early processing and tabulation of absentee ballots and advance votes for the General Primary / Non-Partisan General Election Runoff taking place on Tuesday, June 16, 2026.

According to the department, processing of absentee ballots will begin at the Athens-Clarke County Facilities Management Building at 2555 Lexington Road, Athens, Georgia. The scheduled dates and times are Wednesday, June 10 from 2:00 to 5:00 PM; Thursday, June 11 from 2:00 to 5:00 PM; Monday, June 15 from 2:00 to 5:00 PM; and Tuesday, June 16 (Runoff Election Day) starting at 4:00 PM until completion.

The early tabulation process for absentee ballots will commence on Election Day—Tuesday, June 16—at 4:00 PM. Advance votes cast during the early voting period will be tabulated beginning at 6:00 PM that same day. These procedures are in accordance with sections (a)(2)(A) and (a)(3) of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated §21-2-386.

The City of Athens operates as a consolidated city-county government providing unified public services across Athens and Clarke County in Georgia. It manages municipal services including parks, facilities management—including restored historic sites such as Morton Theatre—and community programs, according to the official website.

All ballot processing and tabulation activities related to this election will take place at the designated county facility.
