Athens Transit will implement systemwide service changes on June 4, according to an announcement made on May 26. Riders are advised to expect minor time adjustments across the network as well as more significant changes to specific routes.
The transit agency said minor time adjustments will affect Routes 1, 2, 5, 6, 7, 8, 20, 21, 25, 26, 27 and 30. In addition, Routes 12 and 14 will begin service at 6:45 a.m. and run every thirty minutes at :15 and :45 past each hour. Route 22 is scheduled to start service thirty minutes earlier than before at approximately 5:45 a.m., shifting all stops on that route by about half an hour.
Riders are encouraged to check with bus operators if they have questions about their trip because several buses serve more than one route and may change routes at the end of each trip. Updated schedules are expected to be available for review during the week of May 26.
Athens Transit operates under the City of Athens-Clarke County unified government structure. The City of Athens provides municipal services including management of parks and facilities such as the restored Morton Theatre; it extends governance across both Athens and Clarke County in Georgia, delivers community programs, supports historic preservation efforts, and functions as a consolidated city-county government, according to the official website.
“Thank you for riding Athens Transit,” the agency said in its statement.
