Atlanta United 2 earned a 2-1 win against Carolina Core FC on May 2 at Truist Point Stadium in High Point, marking the team’s third consecutive victory. Cameron Dunbar scored both goals for Atlanta, bringing his streak to three matches with a goal.

The result is significant as it continues Atlanta United 2’s strong run of form in the league. The match saw early pressure from Carolina, but Atlanta’s goalkeeper Jonathan Ransom made an important save in the ninth minute to keep the game level. Dunbar opened the scoring for Atlanta in the 29th minute after receiving a cross from Ignacio Suarez-Couri and finishing into the bottom left corner.

Before halftime, Adrian Gill assisted Dominik Chong Qui down the left wing, who then crossed to Dunbar for his second goal just before stoppage time. Carolina responded in the second half when Anthony Sumo Jr. scored with a curled shot in the 57th minute. Matthew Senanou made a crucial tackle late in the match to prevent another scoring opportunity for Carolina.

In stoppage time, Atlanta defended several attempts by Carolina and managed to clear a dangerous free kick scramble inside their box to secure all three points. According to the official website, Atlanta United FC has achieved notable success including winning MLS Cup in 2018 and both U.S. Open Cup and Campeones Cup titles in 2019.
