Atlanta United secured a 3-1 victory over CF Montréal on May 3, marking their third consecutive win in Major League Soccer. The match saw Saba Lobjanidze score two goals, helping the team recover from an early deficit.
The result highlights Atlanta United’s growing momentum this season and demonstrates their ability to respond under pressure. Their latest performance strengthens their position in the Eastern Conference as they approach the mid-season break.
The match began with Atlanta controlling possession but conceding an early goal after a defensive turnover allowed Matty Longstaff of Montréal to score. Despite this setback, Atlanta found opportunities by switching play and eventually equalized through Lobjanidze just before halftime. Alexey Miranchuk then set up Emmanuel Latte Lath for another goal, giving Atlanta a lead at the break.
In the second half, Cooper Sanchez assisted Lobjanidze for his second goal of the night, extending Atlanta’s advantage. Substitutions by head coach Tata Martino helped maintain energy levels as the team defended their lead and created further chances on attack. A late red card for Brayan Vera of Montréal capped off a tense finish.
Lobjanidze’s two goals were his first of the season and marked his first brace since May 2024. Miranchuk contributed two assists and continued his streak of goal involvements across three matches. Sanchez recorded his third assist of the season, tying him for most among players aged 18 or younger in Major League Soccer this year.
