The Augusta Recreation and Parks Department announced on May 19 that the Candlelight Music Series will begin on Sunday, June 7, with a temporary relocation to the Augusta Exchange Club Fairgrounds. The change in venue is due to scheduled utility work at the Augusta Common, where the event is usually held.

The department said this move allows organizers to provide residents, visitors, and performers with a confirmed start date for the season. The fairgrounds are located at 202 Hale Street in Augusta.

Director Williams said, “We understand that Candlelight is more than a concert series. It is a tradition, a gathering place, and part of Augusta’s summer culture. We appreciate the community’s patience and understanding as we move forward with this temporary location change and prepare for the 2026 season.”

Details about the opening act for June 7 will be announced after Memorial Day weekend. The full lineup of concerts will also be released at a later date.

Augusta operates under a consolidated government led by a mayor and ten commissioners; it ranks as Georgia’s second oldest and second largest city. The city includes nine neighborhoods listed on the National Register of Historic Places along with historic monuments such as President Woodrow Wilson’s boyhood home and the Ezekiel Harris House built in 1797. It developed its canal in 1847, becoming one of the world’s largest inland cotton markets; it is also part of the Central Savannah River Area spanning counties in Georgia and South Carolina, according to the official website.

Organizers encourage community members to stay updated through official channels as preparations continue for this year’s music series.
