The U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Georgia announced on May 19 that court operations and bankruptcy hearings in the Atlanta Division will be modified from June 11 through July 15, 2026, due to expected impacts from the FIFA World Cup.

The changes are intended to address anticipated disruptions to travel, parking, and access to the Richard B. Russell Federal Building & U.S. Courthouse during this period. These adjustments are relevant for all parties scheduled for bankruptcy hearings or needing access to court services in Atlanta during the event.

According to the notice, “Hearings in Atlanta – Beginning June 11, 2026, through and including July 15, 2026, unless the Court orders otherwise, Court hearings previously noticed as in-person will instead be held as hybrid hearings, meaning that parties may appear virtually via the Zoom Hearing link for the appropriate judge as found on the website, or, in person. Hearings noticed as virtual will continue as noticed and parties should appear virtually.” The announcement also states that “the Intake Counter at the RBR Building will be closed on the dates listed below for the World Cup Match Days at Atlanta Stadium. Any party that needs to file documents on those days may use the drop box at the Atlanta Intake section, or visit Gainesville, Newnan, or Rome Intake Counters of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court which will be open from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.” The specific closure dates include June 15 (Monday), June 18 (Thursday), June 24 (Wednesday), July 1 (Wednesday), and July 15 (Wednesday) of next year.

Vania S. Allen signed off on these operational changes as Clerk of Court.

These measures reflect efforts by court officials to minimize disruption while maintaining public access and service continuity during a major international event.
