A resurfacing project on State Route 232, also known as Bobby Jones Expressway, is set to commence on Monday, July 7, 2025. The project will involve lane closures necessary for resurfacing between State Route 104/Washington Road and Scott Nixon Memorial Drive. E.R. Snell Contractor, Inc. has been awarded the $1.2 million contract to resurface this section of SR 232 for the first time since 2014.
The work is scheduled to take place overnight. More than 40,000 vehicles travel this section of SR 232 daily. To minimize congestion, Georgia DOT has restricted work hours between 6:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.
Drivers should anticipate frequent overnight lane closures in the upcoming weeks as crews proceed with the project. The contractor plans daily closures from 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., starting on Monday, July 7. It is important to note that the schedule may change due to weather conditions.
Drivers are advised to exercise caution by reducing speed, staying alert, and watching for workers while navigating through the work zone.
