Senator Matt Brass recently joined British Consul General Rachel Galloway for a workforce development tour at the Central Educational Center (CEC) in Newnan. The visit, hosted by CEC CEO Mark Whitlock, showcased the center’s approach to preparing students for careers through academic and technical training.

The purpose of Consul General Galloway’s visit was to understand Georgia’s strategies in workforce education and explore potential collaborations between the United Kingdom and Georgia. Her presence highlighted the global significance of CEC’s model and the importance of international dialogue on education and economic growth.

Senator Brass underscored the role of institutions like CEC in developing a skilled workforce: “It was an honor to host British Consul General Rachel Galloway in Newnan and show her firsthand the workforce development happening in Senate District 6,” he stated. He also acknowledged CEC as a model for training future workers across various industries such as manufacturing, healthcare, and film production. “I’m grateful to Consul General Galloway for visiting and recognizing the value of CEC’s programming,” added Sen. Brass.

Consul General Galloway remarked on the importance of workforce development: “Workforce development is a key part of economic growth, which is why CEC’s work in partnering with local industry and building workforce programmes is essential in preparing students to enter the job market.” She noted that there are opportunities for learning from each other’s expertise to support business growth, particularly within the framework of a new economic deal between the UK and US.

The Central Educational Center remains a crucial element in Georgia’s efforts toward bridging classroom learning with career readiness.
