Traffic changes are planned for Muscogee County as the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) announces a bridge closure. The closure will affect the Diverging Diamond Interchange Exit Ramp and Bradley Park Drive, impacting traffic exiting JR Allen Parkway eastbound at Exit 3A. Motorists will be detoured via Bradley Park Drive to JR Allen Parkway, then to Exit 4 (River Road/SR 219), and back onto JR Allen Parkway to re-access Exit 3A.
The GDOT advises that “dates may change due to weather or other factors.” Drivers should “expect delays, exercise caution, and reduce their speed while traveling through work zones.” For updates on work status and traffic conditions, the public is encouraged to call 511, visit 511ga.org, or use the Georgia 511 app.
The GDOT is responsible for planning, constructing, and maintaining state and federal highways in Georgia. Their efforts extend beyond roads to include bridges, waterways, public transit systems, railways, general aviation facilities, bike paths, and pedestrian programs. Additionally, they assist local governments with road maintenance. According to GDOT’s statement: “Georgia DOT and its nearly 4,000 employees are committed to delivering a transportation system focused on innovation, safety, sustainability and mobility.” The department aims “to boost Georgia’s competitiveness through leadership in transportation.”
