Bridge replacement set for Callaway Road over Red Oak Creek in Meriwether County

The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) has announced that the bridge on SR 362 (Callaway Road) over Red Oak Creek in Meriwether County will be closed for replacement starting Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at 9 a.m. The closure affects the stretch of SR 362 from SR 27 to SR 85.

During construction, an off-site detour will be in place. Eastbound traffic on SR 362 will be directed south on SR 85 for five miles, then onto SR 109 Spur South for nine and a half miles, continuing to SR 109 West onto SR 27 North for two miles before rejoining the west side of Callaway Road. Westbound traffic will follow a route south on SR 27 for two miles, east to SR 109, north on SR 109 Spur for nine and a half miles, then north on SR 85 for five miles to return to the east side of Callaway Road.

Motorists are advised that dates may change due to weather or other factors. Drivers should expect delays and are encouraged to exercise caution and reduce speed while traveling through work zones.
