Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta announced on May 13 the upcoming opening of a new pediatric primary care clinic in Adamsville and expanded services in Union City. The expansion is part of a long-term plan to ensure that every family in Atlanta is within 30 minutes or less from a Children’s facility.

The need for more pediatric care has grown as Children’s Hughes Spalding Primary Care Clinic has served downtown Atlanta for over two decades. Paul Brown, Chair of the Children’s Board of Trustees, said, “Strong pediatric care translates to stronger, healthier communities—and that truly benefits all. This expansion reflects the vision our CEO, Donna Hyland, has championed throughout her tenure and reaffirms the important commitment made by the Children’s Board to ensure every child in Georgia has access to quality pediatric care.”

The new Adamsville Pediatrics clinic will provide family-centered primary care for children from birth through age 21. Pediatricians from Hughes Spalding Primary Care Clinic will rotate at this location. The original clinic at Hughes Spalding Hospital will remain open as part of the network.

Donna Hyland, CEO of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, said, “Children’s exists to make kids better today and healthier tomorrow. This mission extends beyond our facility walls and out into the communities we serve. We believe it is vital to have a strong network of pediatricians in Georgia.”

Adamsville Pediatrics will also be used as a training site for medical residents working with Emory University School of Medicine and Morehouse School of Medicine. The goal is to help train future generations of doctors who will serve children across Georgia.

Located at 3571 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive SW, Adamsville Pediatrics will begin seeing patients on June 29 with extended hours on certain days during the week. Services offered include prenatal consults, newborn visits, well-child checkups and immunizations, sick visits for minor illnesses or injuries, developmental screenings, chronic condition management, physicals for school or sports participation, specialist referrals and various tests such as hearing or vision screenings.

Additionally, Grady Health System plans to open a new medical office building on its Union City campus by 2028 which will feature an entire floor dedicated to pediatric services provided by Children’s Healthcare—including primary care as well as behavioral and mental health support.

According to officials with Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Adamsville Pediatrics—a service affiliated with Hughes Spalding Hospital owned by Grady Health System—these developments are intended to improve access for families living in South Fulton County and Southwest Atlanta.
