The City of Savannah is encouraging residents to enroll in the RAVE Alert emergency communications system as hurricane season begins, according to a June 2 announcement. Hurricane season runs from June 1 through November 30.

Residents can register their contact information on the Smart911 Web Portal to receive emergency notifications from the City of Savannah. These alerts will be delivered by phone, email, or text message immediately after they are issued. The city said that receiving critical information quickly is key for preparedness.

“Stay updated. Stay prepared. That’s the message the City of Savannah is urging residents to keep in mind as hurricane season…begins,” officials said in the release. While the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration predicts a below-normal Atlantic hurricane season for 2026, city officials still encourage all residents to sign up for real-time notifications.

First-time users are instructed to click “Sign Up Now!” and complete an online registration form with their email address. Returning users who need to update their contact details should sign in with their previously used email address and password.

The City of Savannah operates under a City Manager who handles financial operations such as budget preparation and financial reporting, manages a $425 million budget, and employs around 2,400 people, according to the official site. The city also promotes healthy neighborhoods and maintains public spaces with an aim to enhance quality of life for its residents, according to its government operations page.
