Clayton County announces advanced voting for June 16 primary runoff election

Clayton County residents will have the opportunity to participate in advanced voting for the Primary Runoff Election, which is scheduled for Tuesday, June 16. According to a June 1 announcement, advanced voting will be available from Monday, June 8 through Friday, June 12 at several locations throughout the county.

Advanced voting sites will operate Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Locations include the Election & Registration Office at 121 S. McDonough St., Jonesboro; Morrow City Hall at 1500 Morrow Rd., Morrow; Virginia Gray Recreation Center at 1475 E. Fayetteville Rd., Riverdale; Carl Rhodenizer Recreation Center at 3499 Rex Rd., Rex; Lake Spivey Recreation Center at 2300 Walt Stephens Rd., Jonesboro; Forest Park Senior Center at 5087 Park Ave., Forest Park; and South Clayton Recreation Center at 1837 McDonough Rd., Hampton.

In related context, Clayton County schools enrolled a total of 61,644 students in the 2022-23 school year and experienced a drop in enrollment by approximately 2.5% compared to the previous year, according to the Georgia Department of Education. Black students made up the largest ethnic group within Clayton County schools during that period with about 68% of enrollment, followed by Hispanic students representing around 24%. Multiracial students accounted for roughly three percent while white students were about two percent of total enrollment in county schools, according to the Georgia Department of Education.

The upcoming runoff election provides voters with multiple options for casting their ballots ahead of Election Day.
