Clayton County announced on May 19 that residents are invited to participate in a series of four Community Open House Sessions as part of an ongoing Housing Assessment and Strategy. The sessions will take place from June 1 to June 4, between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m., at various locations across the county.
The initiative aims to gather public input about local housing needs and inform residents about the current status of housing conditions in Clayton County. Residents will have opportunities to discuss their experiences with accessing housing, learn about relevant concepts in the housing market, and engage with both county officials and consultants leading the study.
Each event is open to all Clayton County residents, regardless of which city they live in. While each session is intended for a specific community, anyone may attend whichever event is most convenient. For those unable to attend in person, additional information and an online survey are available at www.ClaytonHousingStudy2026.com. Questions or feedback can also be sent by email to Team@ClaytonHousingStudy2026.com.
The Housing Assessment and Strategy is a joint effort between Clayton County and the Atlanta Regional Commission’s Community Development Assistance Program (CDAP). The study is conducted by KB Advisory Group along with Assemblage, View Community Partners, and Slade Environmental. Its goal is to examine existing housing conditions throughout the county, involve local stakeholders in discussions about solutions, and develop recommendations for creating a healthy, equitable, and sustainable housing ecosystem.
Recent demographic data show that Black students make up the majority of enrollment at Clayton County schools (68%), followed by Hispanic students (24%) and multiracial students (3%). White students account for just 2% of enrollment during the 2022-23 school year; overall enrollment dropped by 2.5% compared to the previous year according to the Georgia Department of Education.
