The Clayton County Board of Commissioners announced on May 20 that all administrative offices will be closed on Monday, May 25, in observance of Memorial Day.
The closure affects residents and county employees who may need to access county services or conduct business at administrative offices. The announcement is part of the county’s observance of the national holiday.
“In observance of the holiday, all Clayton County Board of Commissioners Administrative Offices will be closed Mon., May 25, 2026. #ClaytonConnected,” the board said in its statement.
Recent data shows that enrollment at Clayton County schools dropped by 2.5% in the 2022-23 school year compared to the previous year, and a total of 61,644 students were enrolled during that period according to the Georgia Department of Education. The student body was composed primarily of Black students at 68%, followed by Hispanic students at 24%. Multiracial students made up about 3%, while White students accounted for only about 2% according to the Georgia Department of Education.
The office closure comes as local schools continue to experience changes in enrollment and demographic makeup. Residents are encouraged to plan accordingly due to limited access to administrative services during the holiday.
