Clayton County Parks and Recreation announced on May 8 that it will host the SSOS Inaugural Food Truck Cook-Off in partnership with Slap Someone Sauce. The event is scheduled for July 18, from noon to 8:00 p.m., at Clayton County International Park, located at 2300 Walt Stephens Road in Jonesboro.
The cook-off will feature live cooking battles, tasting stations, and activities designed for families. Organizers say the event aims to bring the community together through food and entertainment. Attendees can expect a variety of local food trucks competing and offering samples throughout the day.

Recent data shows that enrollment at Clayton County schools dropped by 2.5% in the 2022-23 school year compared to the previous year, according to the Georgia Department of Education. The total student enrollment was reported as 61,644 students during that period.
Black students made up the largest ethnic group within Clayton County schools at 68%, followed by Hispanic students at 24%. Multiracial students accounted for about 3%, while white students were least represented at just under two percent, according to the Georgia Department of Education.
The upcoming food truck cook-off is part of ongoing efforts by county agencies and partners to foster community engagement through public events.
