Clayton County Parks and Recreation offers incentives for National Tennis Month

The Clayton County Parks and Recreation’s Athletics Department announced on May 5 that it is celebrating National Tennis Month by offering prizes, incentives, and a discount for new members at the county’s Tennis Center.

The department said the promotion aims to encourage more residents to join the Tennis Center and participate in tennis activities throughout May. New annual members will receive $20 off their membership fee and a free T-shirt. In addition, every new member will be entered into a weekly prize drawing held each Sunday during May. Prizes include a pair of Spivey Splash Water Park tickets, Parks and Recreation merchandise, or a free lesson in tennis or pickleball.

According to the Georgia Department of Education, enrollment at Clayton County schools dropped by 2.5% in the 2022-23 school year compared to the previous year. The same source reports that Clayton County schools enrolled a total of 61,644 students during that period.

Demographic data show that Black students made up the largest ethnic group within Clayton County schools at 68%, followed by Hispanic students at 24%, as reported by the Georgia Department of Education. Multiracial students accounted for 3% of enrollment while white students were the least represented group at just 2% according to the same source.
