Clayton County officials announced on June 2 that the new Fire and Emergency Services Fire Station No. 9 is nearing completion, with ongoing installation of underground piping at both the Lakeview Events Center Amphitheater and the site of the new Clayton County Administration Building.

The county invited residents to track progress on various Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) projects by visiting www.claytonsplost.com. The update highlighted visible advancements in public infrastructure funded through local sales tax revenues.

In addition to construction updates, recent data show changes in local school enrollment. Enrollment at Clayton County schools dropped by 2.5% in the 2022-23 school year compared to the previous year, according to the Georgia Department of Education. Clayton County schools enrolled a total of 61,644 students during this period.

Demographic information from the same source shows that Black students made up 68% of Clayton County’s student body in 2022-23, Hispanic students represented 24%, multiracial students accounted for 3%, and White students were the least represented at 2%, according to the Georgia Department of Education.

Officials continue to provide updates as SPLOST-funded projects move forward across Clayton County.
