Clayton County announced on May 18 that work continues on several Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) projects, including underground piping at the new Clayton County Administration Building site and the Lakeview Events Center Amphitheater. Crews are also addressing the punch list at Fire Station No. 9, while ground clearing is underway for new River’s Edge Walking Trails as part of phases three and four of the project.

The update highlights ongoing infrastructure improvements funded by SPLOST, which are intended to enhance public facilities and recreational spaces for residents. These projects represent continued investment in community development across multiple locations in Clayton County.

In addition to construction updates, recent data show that enrollment at Clayton County schools dropped by 2.5% in the 2022-23 school year compared to the previous year, according to the Georgia Department of Education. The district enrolled a total of 61,644 students during this period.

Demographic figures indicate that Black students made up the largest share of enrollment at 68%, followed by Hispanic students at 24%. Multiracial students accounted for 3%, while White students represented just 2% of the student body in Clayton County schools during the same school year, according to the Georgia Department of Education.
