The University of Georgia Extension announced on May 29 that it will host a hands-on workshop in Cobb County to teach the basics of home food preservation. The class will focus on safely preserving green beans using research-based pressure canning methods, and seating is limited.

The workshop is open to participants for a fee of $30. Organizers said the event aims to provide practical instruction in food safety and preservation techniques for community members interested in learning how to can green beans at home.

According to the announcement, the University of Georgia is an Equal Opportunity, Affirmative Action, Veteran, Disability Institution. Those needing reasonable accommodation or language access services are encouraged to reach out using the contact information provided on the event page at least three weeks prior to the program date.

The program reflects ongoing efforts by local extension offices to educate residents about safe and effective methods for preserving produce at home.
