A Coffee County man was arrested on June 2 following an investigation into online child exploitation by the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division.
Investigators charged Jimmy Adams, 56, of Douglas, Georgia, with one count of Computer or Electronic Pornography and Child Exploitation Prevention Act Violations under O.C.G.A. 16-12-100.2. The arrest came after deputies received information on May 28 about a suspected incident involving an adult male communicating with someone believed to be a 13-year-old child. Deputies obtained digital evidence that included sexually explicit communications and image exchanges, leading to further review by investigators.
Detectives analyzed the evidence and conducted follow-up investigative efforts before identifying Adams as the individual involved. Authorities said probable cause was established based on the evidence obtained, and Adams was taken into custody without incident.
The Coffee County Sheriff’s Office stated it maintains a zero-tolerance stance against crimes involving the exploitation and abuse of children. Investigations involving children are pursued aggressively and thoroughly to ensure offenders are held accountable and vulnerable victims are protected.
“This type of behavior has no place in our community,” said Sheriff Fred Cole. “Our investigators remain committed to protecting children and aggressively pursuing anyone who seeks to exploit them through online platforms or any other means.”
The investigation remains active and ongoing. The Coffee County Sheriff’s Office urges anyone with information related to this case to contact investigators.
