During the recent holiday season, Archbold Living-Pelham received visits from various community groups in Mitchell County. According to staff at the facility, 22 churches, civic organizations, businesses, and individuals stopped by to give gifts to residents and made donations to the activities department.
Groups and individuals who contributed included the Pelham Rotary Club, Autry State Prison, The Give Back Project, Power House of Deliverance, Circle of Life Church, Presence of Joy, the Hill Family, Cornerstone Church, Chastity Cox with Mary Kay and Vebra Thomas.
“We had individuals who gave cross-stitch ornaments, quilted coasters, blankets, handmade hats, hand-painted vases and flowers,” said Alene Cox, activities director at Archbold Living-Pelham. “The love, fellowship and kindness given to our residents was overwhelming, and we are truly thankful for our community and friends.”
Upward Bound students participated by caroling and making ornaments with residents. The Women’s Round Table from First Baptist Church Pelham hosted a tea party. Teresa Brady and her family organized a party with treats. Other groups such as Connection Church, Virtuous Girls Youth, Midway Baptist and the Pelham Garden Club delivered cards. Santa Claus visited twice during the season along with elves and the Grinch.
“Our facility may be on the edge of town, but our friends and neighbors consistently show us that we’re at the heart of this community,” Cox added. “I am proud to work at a facility so well regarded by our community, and I’m proud to serve the people who call it home.”
