Kandiss Taylor, a Georgia congressional candidate, has expressed her stance against the use of pronouns in schools to prevent ideological influence over children. This statement was made on the social media platform X.
“Stop the pronouns in your signature line,” said Taylor, Congress Candidate. “Stop asking students for their pronouns. You sound like a complete moron. Stop the participation in brainwashing our children.”
In 2025, Georgia lawmakers advanced bills that restrict discussions of gender identity and pronoun use in public schools, further intensifying political and cultural debates. According to GPB News, one such measure mandates that students use bathrooms corresponding to their sex assigned at birth, a policy that LGBTQ+ advocates argue marginalizes transgender youth. These legislative efforts are part of broader national movements aiming to regulate gender-related content in education.
A 2019 report by GLSEN highlights that only 5% of Georgia students attended schools with anti-bullying policies inclusive of sexual orientation and gender identity. Furthermore, just 4% had supportive policies for transgender and nonbinary students, indicating limited formal protections for LGBTQ+ students across Georgia’s educational landscape.
A 2022 survey by the Pew Research Center found that while 64% of Americans support laws protecting transgender people from discrimination, many in Southern states also favor restrictions on trans participation in school sports and bathroom use. This data reflects a nuanced public opinion where there is both support for protections and backing for certain limits depending on the context.
Taylor, who previously ran for governor of Georgia and currently serves as District 1 GOP Chair, announced her congressional candidacy in February 2025. According to AP News and WTOC, she campaigns on a staunchly conservative platform encapsulated by the slogan “Jesus, Guns, and Babies,” opposing gender identity education in schools. Her rhetoric aligns with national culture war narratives.
