The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) has announced scheduled lane closures in Douglas County this weekend. The closures will occur on Post Road and Yeager Road as part of a safety project involving lane restriping to improve driver visibility and safety.
Weather permitting, the lane closures will occur from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 26, on Post Road, from Veterans Memorial Highway to Highway 166. On Sunday, April 27, lanes on Yeager Road, from Kings Highway to W. Chapel Hill Road, will be closed during the same hours. The safety project is valued at $420,000 and is expected to be completed by summer 2025.
Motorists in the area are advised to reduce speeds and exercise caution in the work zones. The GDOT also suggests that drivers wear seatbelts, avoid distractions while driving, and plan routes in advance using resources like the 511 service for real-time traffic updates.
The GDOT oversees the planning and maintenance of Georgia’s state and federal highways and supports a wide array of transportation projects, aiming to boost safety, mobility, and innovation across the state.
