Decatur County Schools recognized its outstanding staff and retirees during the Retirement Banquet held at Bainbridge High School on May 4. The event, sponsored by the Decatur County Association of Educators, celebrated the dedication and service of employees who have contributed to the school system.
The banquet served as an opportunity for colleagues and community members to share stories, acknowledge accomplishments, and express appreciation for years of commitment to students and schools. The district said the evening was a special time to honor those whose efforts have shaped Decatur County Schools.
Outstanding employees from various schools were named during the event. Honorees included Teresa Toliver from Bainbridge High School, Daniel Denson from Bainbridge Middle School, Renee Perivolaris from Hutto Elementary School, Kristy Poitevint from Jones Wheat Primary School, Tonda Randall from New Beginnings Learning Center, Bobby Washington for School Food Service, Lanorris ‘Peewee’ Harrell for Special Education, Zana Miller from West Bainbridge Primary, and Chad Griffin for Instructional Technology.
Retirees were also recognized by their respective schools. Among those honored were Brenda Bush and Scott Griggs from Bainbridge High School; Patricia Harrison and Anita Webb from Bainbridge Middle School; Sandra Dawson and Pamela Randall from Hutto Elementary; Betty Burke, Cynthia Campbell, Rhonda Farmer, Shelia Floyd, Cheryl Guy, Janie Reynolds, and Dorothy ‘Dot’ Pierce from Jones Wheat Primary; Tammy Lyle and Dana Martin from West Bainbridge Elementary; as well as Michael Austin and Peggy Wade from New Beginnings Learning Center.
The ceremony concluded with congratulations extended to all honorees. The district highlighted that such recognition events help reinforce a sense of community among educators while marking important milestones in their careers.
