The DeKalb County School District recognized on May 18 the students graduating in spring 2026 after participating in Dual Language Immersion programming. The announcement highlights the achievements of students from both DCSD and partner charter immersion pathways who have completed sustained language learning experiences.
This recognition is important as it reflects the district’s ongoing efforts to expand multilingual pathways and underscores the value of language learning for students’ academic and personal growth. The list includes students who studied languages such as Mandarin Chinese, French, Spanish, and German at various high schools across the district.
According to the district, these graduates represent a range of language learning journeys. Some began their immersion experiences in kindergarten while others joined at later stages. Many students also completed advanced or college-level coursework during high school. “Collectively, their accomplishments demonstrate dedication, perseverance, and a commitment to developing bilingualism, biliteracy, and intercultural competence,” said DCSD representatives.
The district stated that participation in sustained immersion programs helps build linguistic and cultural skills needed for an interconnected world. “Their success reflects the strength of multilingual education opportunities across our community and the commitment of educators, families, and schools that support these programs,” according to DCSD.
DCSD commended all recognized students for reaching this milestone in their educational journey. “We commend these students for their achievement and celebrate the important milestone they represent for language learning in DeKalb County and beyond,” said district officials.
