The DeKalb County House Legislative Delegation is set to hold two meetings with local organizations in late February and early March. Chair Karla Drenner (D-Avondale Estates), Vice Chair Viola Davis (D-Stone Mountain), Secretary Long Tran (D-Dunwoody), and other delegation members will first meet virtually with the DeKalb Municipal Association (DMA) on Monday, February 23, 2026, at noon.

“Strong municipalities and strong schools are foundational to economic stability and quality of life in DeKalb County,” said Rep. Davis. “These meetings ensure that we are aligned with local leadership as we advocate for our communities at the State Capitol.”

The meeting with DMA officials will focus on legislative priorities for DeKalb County’s cities, such as infrastructure, public safety, economic development, and coordination between governments. Legislators will have the chance to discuss policy issues and funding requirements directly with city leaders.

A second meeting is scheduled for Monday, March 2, 2026, from noon to 2 p.m., at the Coverdell Legislative Office Building in Atlanta. During this session, education officials from the DeKalb County Board of Education will discuss topics including school funding, safety measures, transportation needs, workforce readiness programs, and equitable state investment in public education.

Inquiries about these meetings can be directed to long.tran@house.ga.gov.

Burns was elected as a Republican representative for Georgia’s 159th House District in 2005 after Ray Holland.
