Delta Air Lines announced on Apr. 15 new enhancements to its travel experience, including expanded Seamless Baggage Transfer, TSA PreCheck Touchless ID, and improved Uber drop-off options for customers connecting through major U.S. airports.
The updates are intended to make international connections more efficient and predictable for travelers. Delta said that customers flying from Seoul, South Korea (ICN) to Minneapolis (MSP) or Detroit (DTW), with onward Delta flights, can now proceed directly to their connecting gate after clearing U.S. Customs and Border Protection without needing to reclaim or recheck their bags unless specifically referred by customs officials.
This program builds on the initial launch of Seamless Baggage Transfer in 2025 for ICN–Atlanta passengers and will soon expand to include flights from Incheon (ICN) to Seattle Tacoma International Airport (SEA), operated by both Delta and Korean Air, as well as Incheon (ICN) to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), operated by Korean Air. The company said this service can save travelers up to 25 minutes during connections.
TSA PreCheck Touchless ID is now available at over 60 airports across all Delta hubs. This technology uses biometric verification at bag drop and security checkpoints, allowing eligible SkyMiles Members who have enrolled in TSA PreCheck with a valid passport and Known Traveler Number saved in their profile to opt in directly through the Delta app.
App Bag Drop is also available across all hubs, providing a streamlined check-in process when customers use the Delta app before arriving at the airport. Permanent resident card holders traveling between the U.S. or Canada can scan their residency cards within the app for digital check-in without manual data entry.
Delta has partnered with Uber on a Preferred Drop-Off option at select airports such as LaGuardia Airport (LGA) and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL). Customers using this feature via the Uber app may experience less congestion during arrivals but are advised to confirm signage for correct drop-off locations due to its recent implementation.
