The Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) has announced that a detour will be put in place for a bridge replacement project on County Road 156 (Hubbard Road) over Stephens Creek in Franklin County. The project, conducted in partnership with E.R. Snell Contractor, Inc., is scheduled to start the detour on March 23, 2026, and it is expected to last up to 120 days depending on weather and construction conditions.
According to Georgia DOT, the detour is necessary to ensure safety while removing and replacing the existing bridge structure. Traffic will be redirected along a signed route as outlined in project plans approved by Georgia DOT. Signage for the detour will be installed before the closure begins and maintained throughout the construction period.
Motorists are advised to plan their routes ahead of time, allow extra travel time, and exercise caution near the work zone. Local access will be provided where possible during construction, and emergency services have been informed about both the closure and new routing.
In a statement from Georgia DOT and E.R. Snell Contractor, Inc., they expressed gratitude for public patience during this infrastructure upgrade: “Georgia DOT and E.R. Snell appreciate the public’s patience and cooperation as this important infrastructure improvement is completed. This bridge replacement will enhance safety and improve long-term reliability for motorists traveling in the area.”
