State Representative Eric Gisler (D-Watkinsville) has been appointed to three Georgia House committees for the remainder of the 2025-2026 legislative term. House Speaker Jon Burns (R-Newington) selected Rep. Gisler to serve on the Defense and Veterans Affairs, Health, and Intragovernmental Coordination committees.
“I’m honored to serve on the Defense and Veterans Affairs, Health and Intragovernmental Coordination committees for the remainder of this legislative term,” said Rep. Gisler. “These assignments provide an important opportunity to support our service members and veterans, strengthen public health systems and improve coordination between state and local governments to better serve Georgians. I’m grateful to Speaker Burns for his confidence in me, and I look forward to working with my colleagues to deliver thoughtful, effective policy for communities across our state.”
Rep. Gisler was sworn in on January 8, 2026, after winning a special election held to fill the seat previously occupied by Marcus Weidower (R-Watkinsville).
Speaker Jon Burns has served in the Georgia State House since 2005 as a Republican representing the state’s 159th District, following Ray Holland’s tenure.
