First Commerce Credit Union has donated more than $5,300 to the Archbold Foundation to support the Archbold Cancer Center Resource Fund. The fund provides assistance to underserved patients in the region, including those undergoing treatment for breast cancer.

The resources from this donation help Archbold offer wigs for patients who lose their hair due to chemotherapy, breast prostheses for those who have had a mastectomy, cold-cap therapy treatments, and lymphedema sleeves. These sleeves help relieve pain and stiffness that can result from fluid buildup during cancer treatment.

This contribution was raised through First Commerce’s Flamingo Challenge, an annual October fundraiser. The event encourages community members and businesses to “join the flock, join the fight against breast cancer, and make a difference.” Groups participating in the challenge made donations to support local breast cancer patients and received plastic pink flamingos to display as part of their involvement.

The Flamingo Challenge supports four cancer centers across South Georgia and North Florida. Since its start in 2020, it has raised over $640,000. Last year marked the third time the fundraiser was held in Thomasville.

Representing First Commerce Credit Union at the presentation were Tiffany McCall, Barbara Williams-Anderson, and Jessica Edwards. Vann Middleton, President of the Archbold Foundation, and Wendy Jacobs, Breast Cancer Navigator at Archbold Cancer Center, accepted the donation.

Archbold Hospitals operates as a not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving health outcomes in its communities through wellness programs and educational initiatives (https://www.archbold.org/). The hospital system serves South Georgia and North Florida with a flagship campus in Thomasville and other regional facilities (https://www.archbold.org/). It has been recognized among the nation’s top 100 hospitals by Fortune and PINC AI (https://www.archbold.org/).

Community members are encouraged to mark their calendars for the next Flamingo Challenge in October 2026 or learn more about supporting these efforts at www.archbold.org/flamingochallenge. Donations to support the Archbold Cancer Center Resource Fund can also be made anytime at www.archbold.org/give by designating gifts for the “Archbold Cancer Center Fund.”
