Jauan Rashun Porter, a resident of Rome, Georgia, has been arrested and charged with making threats against the President of the United States. According to federal authorities, Porter was detained after allegedly posting threatening comments during a TikTok livestream on July 26, 2025.

U.S. Attorney Theodore S. Hertzberg commented on the case: “The allegations against Porter are serious and required a swift, decisive, and collaborative response,” said U.S. Attorney Theodore S. Hertzberg. “We do not tolerate threats against public officials or law enforcement officers, and Porter will now face the consequences of his actions.”

Robert Donovan, Deputy Special Agent in Charge at the Atlanta Field Office of the United States Secret Service, added: “The United States Secret Service takes threats against a protectee very seriously. We will investigate every threat, and if warranted, prosecute those who make threats to the fullest extent of the law,” said Robert Donovan, Deputy Special Agent in Charge, Atlanta Field Office, United States Secret Service.

Court documents state that Porter joined a TikTok livestream about President Trump captioned “Alligator Alcatraz” and posted statements indicating an intent to harm the former president. Investigators allege that he continued to make further threats during the livestream and also threatened federal agents when asked by the host.

During their investigation, authorities searched Porter’s apartment and found two pipes, pistol ammunition, and Tannerite (an explosive). Porter has prior convictions for offenses including terroristic threats and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He is currently on probation.

Porter was formally charged on August 7, 2025. U.S. Magistrate Judge Walter E. Johnson ordered that he be held in custody until a detention hearing scheduled for August 12.

Officials remind the public that these charges are allegations at this stage; Porter is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.

The case is being investigated by the United States Secret Service with assistance from local agencies including Floyd County Police Department and Georgia Department of Community Supervision. Assistant United States Attorney Brian Michael Pearce is leading prosecution efforts.
