FOIA Request to Georgia State University regarding public university FY 2024 employee salaries on December 5, 2025.

A request has been made to Georgia State University under the Georgia Open Records Act § 50.18.70 et seq., seeking comprehensive records of employee compensation for Fiscal Year 2024. The request was submitted by Peach Tree Times, a media organization focused on providing accurate news coverage of local governmental affairs.

The requested records pertain to all individuals employed by the university during Fiscal Year 2024, which is typically defined as spanning from September 2024 through July 2025. If the university operates under different fiscal-year boundaries, it is requested that these be specified in the response. The request seeks detailed information including, but not limited to, fiscal year, employee name, gender (if recorded), age or year of birth (if not exempt), date of birth (if not exempt or limited to month/year), employer name, title or position, department, hire date, compensation amount (base pay and any additional pay), compensation type (e.g., salary, hourly, stipend, bonus), and employment type (full-time or part-time).

The Peach Tree Times has expressed an understanding that not all fields may exist in every record and requests the production of all responsive records regardless of completeness. In cases where parts of a record are deemed exempt from disclosure, they ask for non-exempt portions to be released in redacted form rather than withheld entirely.

As members of the media involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, Peach Tree Times emphasizes their role in holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency. They have also requested a fee waiver based on their status as a media professional.

This request is supported by The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, a non-profit organization assisting media companies and advocacy groups in investigating government agencies using Freedom of Information and Sunshine Laws.

Our team will continue to keep you updated as we gather and report news related to this request and other matters of public interest. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or need further clarification regarding this matter.
