The Foundation for the Restoration of America announced that it has published research alleging a 10.9% adverse event rate associated with chemical abortions between 2017 and 2023.

The Foundation for the Restoration of America (FFROA) conducted a comprehensive analysis of insurance claims data from 2017 to 2023, revealing that nearly 11% of women who underwent chemical abortions experienced serious adverse health events. These complications included infections, hemorrhage, and sepsis. The study highlights concerns about the safety of chemical abortions and the need for more transparent reporting of associated risks.

According to the FFROA study, the 10.9% adverse event rate from chemical abortions is significantly higher than the 0.5% rate reported in clinical trials cited by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The analysis was based on over 865,000 insurance claims related to chemical abortions. The study suggests that real-world complications from chemical abortions may be underreported in official statistics.

The Guttmacher Institute reported that medication abortions accounted for 63% of all abortions in the United States in 2023, totaling approximately 642,700 procedures. This marks an increase from 53% in 2020, indicating a growing reliance on medication abortion methods. The rise in medication abortions underscores the importance of understanding and monitoring associated health risks.

The Foundation for the Restoration of America is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting policies that strengthen American families, enhance transparency, and uphold constitutional values. Through research and advocacy, FFROA aims to inform public discourse and influence policy decisions on critical issues.
