The Georgia Department of Transportation announced on May 15 that weekend lane closures will take place on State Route 9/Peachtree Road, including a section of 14th Street in the City of Atlanta, Fulton County. The closures are part of ongoing resurfacing work intended to improve road conditions and ensure safety for both workers and drivers.
The project covers SR 9 from Northside Drive to Paces Ferry Road, as well as the stretch of 14th Street from Northside Drive east to Spring Street and north to Peachtree Street/Peachtree Road. Alternating right or left single lane closures will begin at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 15, and continue until 6 a.m. Monday, weather permitting.
This $4.3 million resurfacing project is scheduled for completion in summer 2026. Motorists are advised that exact dates may change due to weather or other unforeseen factors. Drivers should expect delays, use signed detours where available, exercise caution, and reduce speed while traveling through work zones.
