The Georgia Bureau of Investigation announced on May 22 that Shacondra Ashley Minor, a former jailer with the Ware County Sheriff’s Office, has been arrested and charged with Simple Battery, Cruelty to an Inmate, and Violation of Oath of Office.
According to the statement, these charges stem from an April 30 use-of-force incident at the Ware County Jail involving Minor and a female inmate. The inmate sustained non-life-threatening injuries that did not require hospital treatment.
The GBI said it began its investigation after receiving a request from the Ware County Sheriff’s Office on May 5. Following this investigation, Minor was dismissed from her position before being arrested.
Minor is currently booked at the Ware County Jail as she awaits further legal proceedings. The case file will be given to the Waycross District Attorney’s Office for prosecution once the investigation is complete.
This arrest highlights ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to address allegations of misconduct within correctional facilities.
