GBI arrests Wilkinson County man in homicide investigation

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation announced on May 21 the arrest of Austin Marcus Allred, age 20, of Ivey, Georgia, who has been charged with Malice Murder and Aggravated Assault in connection with the death of Tylan Ar’tavious Horne, age 25, of McIntyre.

According to the GBI, this case began when the Wilkinson County Sheriff’s Office responded at about 1:00 a.m. to a home in the 100 block of Morningside Drive in Ivey. The sheriff’s office then requested assistance from the GBI for further investigation.

A preliminary investigation revealed that Allred entered the residence and shot at Horne, striking him. Authorities said Allred left the scene but later returned. Horne was pronounced dead at the location.

Allred is currently being held at Wilkinson County Jail as charges are processed. The GBI said that this investigation remains active and ongoing.

Once investigators have completed their work on this case, officials said it will be forwarded to the Ocmulgee Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
