Contractors for the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) will implement lane closures on Interstate 575 this weekend in Cherokee and Cobb Counties. The closures are part of a resurfacing project on I-575 extending from its interchange with I-75 to the Etowah River. This work aims to enhance the condition of the roadway.

Weather permitting, single alternating lanes, either left or right, will be closed between the I-75 interchange and the Etowah River from 6 p.m. on Friday, April 19, until 6 a.m. on Saturday. This project has a total cost of $38 million and is expected to be completed by summer 2025.

Drivers will receive advance notice of the traffic pacing and lane closures through message boards. Motorists are advised to anticipate delays, follow the signed detours, drive cautiously, and reduce speeds when passing through work zones. For real-time updates on work status and traffic conditions, drivers can call 511, visit 511ga.org, or download the Georgia 511 app.
