The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) continues its efforts to improve highway infrastructure in the metropolitan Atlanta area. Construction and maintenance projects will proceed this weekend.

To help travelers avoid significant delays, GDOT has launched a webpage dedicated to weekend lane closures throughout Metro Atlanta. The public can view all scheduled closures at http://www.dot.ga.gov/ds/metrolaneclosures. Users can access lane closure information by selecting options within the search filter and clicking submit. This filter allows sorting by traffic impact level, county, interstate, or state route.

The schedule for weekend lane closures will be updated weekly and available from 4:00 p.m. on Thursday until 10 a.m. on Monday.

For real-time travel conditions on Georgia’s interstates and state routes, travelers are encouraged to call 511 before hitting the road. Georgia 511 is a free service providing statewide traffic and travel information, including conditions, incidents, lane closures, and delays. Operators are available for assistance or incident reporting 24/7. In metro Atlanta, HERO roadside assistance can also be requested by calling 511. Additional information is accessible at www.511ga.org.

The Georgia Department of Transportation is responsible for planning, constructing, and maintaining Georgia’s state and federal highways. The department engages in various programs including bridge construction, waterways, public transit, rail systems, general aviation, biking, and pedestrian initiatives while assisting local governments with road maintenance. With nearly 4,000 employees dedicated to innovation, safety, sustainability, and mobility in transportation systems, GDOT aims to enhance Georgia’s competitiveness through leadership in transportation.

“Georgia Department of Transportation plans constructs and maintains Georgia’s state and federal highways.”

“The information you provide to the Georgia Department of Transportation will be used solely by GDOT.”
