The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) is seeking public input on a proposed bridge replacement project in Catoosa County. The focus is the bridge on County Road 382/Boynton Drive over Interstate 75. GDOT has launched a virtual Public Information Open House to present the project’s rationale, plans, and anticipated timeline.
Construction for the new bridge is scheduled to begin in 2028. During this period, the existing structure will be demolished, and traffic will be rerouted via an off-site detour. This detour is projected to extend travel by only 0.6 miles and last no longer than nine months.
Public comments and questions are welcomed through June 23 on the open house’s website. “Members of the public can provide feedback about the project and send in questions to project officials,” stated GDOT.
Motorists are advised to prepare for possible delays and are encouraged to drive cautiously through work zones. To stay informed about current work status and traffic conditions, drivers can call 511, visit 511ga.org, or use the Georgia 511 app.
GDOT emphasizes that its teams are adhering to health guidelines while maintaining roads and overseeing construction projects amidst ongoing health concerns related to COVID-19.
