Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Tyler J Harper has asked participants in the Georgia Agricultural Tax Exemption (GATE) program to update their contact information by August 31, 2025. The update is necessary to ensure that participants receive their 2026 GATE cards on time. The GATE program allows eligible Georgia producers to buy certain farm items without paying tax and currently has about 45,830 participants across the state.

“I want to encourage all Georgia farmers and producers who participate in the GATE program to ensure their contact information is current ahead of the August 31 deadline,” said Commissioner Tyler J Harper. “Our team is committed to delivering GATE cards on time, and keeping your information up to date helps prevent any delays in accessing the tax exemptions that Georgia’s ag community depends on every day.”

Participants can update their address, email, and phone number online. Changes involving company name, physical location, or contact person require contacting the department by email at farmtax@agr.georgia.gov or by phone at 855-327-6829. Updated GATE cards for 2026 are scheduled to be mailed out in early November.

The department encourages all participants to keep a valid email address on file for timely updates and notifications related to the program.

The GATE program was started in 2013 and offers state and local sales tax exemptions for qualified agricultural purchases made by eligible farmers and producers. Certificates are valid for three years. To qualify, individuals must be actively involved in agriculture with an annual income of at least $5,000 from their operation. More details about eligibility and application can be found at www.agr.georgia.gov/GATE.
