Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr said his office is leveraging partnerships with UPS, RaceTrac, Truckers Against Trafficking, and the Georgia Hotel and Lodging Association to broaden its reach in recovering missing children who are often at the center of human trafficking.

The effort is part of a new initiative called the “Eyes on the Road” campaign. The campaign enlists businesses across Georgia to help locate missing children through a straightforward alert system where designated company contacts receive and distribute notifications when credible tips or sightings are needed, according to a press release by Carr.

Carr said, “The majority of our human trafficking cases involve a missing child, and we’re using all available resources to safely bring them home. By partnering with UPS, RaceTrac, Truckers Against Trafficking, and GHLA, we’re able to expand our footprint and save even more lives. We will never stop fighting to protect our most vulnerable Georgians.”

Since its founding in 2019 with support from Governor Brian Kemp and First Lady Marty Kemp, Carr’s Human Trafficking Prosecution Unit has secured more than 70 criminal convictions and helped rescue or assist over 200 children, according to a press release by Carr.

Georgia First Lady Marty Kemp said the business community already plays a key role in making Georgia a leader in the fight against human trafficking. “Human traffickers thrive when they can hide in plain sight, which is why steps like this that create eyes and ears statewide are so important,” she said, according to a press release by Carr.

Carr was appointed as Georgia’s attorney general by then-Governor Nathan Deal in 2016 and was re-elected in November 2022. Since taking office, he has focused on addressing issues such as human trafficking, gang activity, and opioid misuse. This includes establishing the state’s first Human Trafficking Prosecution Unit and Gang Prosecution Unit. Carr served as Commissioner of the Georgia Department of Economic Development under Governor Deal from November 2013 to November 2016, according to Georgia.gov.
