The Georgia Bar Association announced on June 2 that its headquarters in downtown Atlanta will remain open and operational from June 11 through July 19, despite anticipated disruptions due to the upcoming World Cup. The association said staff presence onsite will be limited, but members can expect full service and responsiveness via email and phone as staff work remotely during regular business hours.

Members may continue to access the Bar Center, though onsite staffing will be reduced. Security personnel will assist members and visitors as needed. The Conference Center at the Bar Center will be closed for the duration of this period, with no meetings or events scheduled to take place at the facility.

Parking at the Bar Center remains available to members at no cost; however, parking is expected to be in high demand since the deck will also be open to the public. Parking is first-come, first-served, and availability cannot be guaranteed. Members are advised to bring their Bar Card and a valid ID for entry if requested. On Saturday, June 20, all parking deck elevators will undergo regularly scheduled testing and will not be in service; those using the deck that day should use stairs and are encouraged to park on levels two or three near exits.

“We believe this approach allows us to maintain continuity of operations while navigating the unique challenges anticipated during the World Cup,” said association officials. For questions or assistance, Executive Director Damon Elmore (damone@gabar.org) or Chief Operating Officer Sarah Coole (sarahc@gabar.org) can be contacted.

The Georgia Bar Association funds its programs mainly through membership fees and voluntary contributions; it supports mental health initiatives, mentorship opportunities, inclusion efforts within the legal community, provides conference facilities with free parking for law-related gatherings at its Atlanta center, honors excellence through an annual awards program recognizing local bar associations’ achievements, includes a substantial membership of attorneys practicing both within Georgia and elsewhere, promotes duty among its members while advancing justice administration and legal knowledge—all according to the official website.
